Involvement
During World War Two Eleanor changed the face of women's
role in politics, gave a voice, and oppressed when her husband
could not. She created a legacy that did not discriminate
againstrace, gender, or class. As the war began she supported
The American Youth Conference to provide a voice for the youth
during wartime. Eleanor also was active with the National
Association for the Adremained. Soon she began to publicly
demand equal rights for all Americans and attempted to break
down segregation within the military. She made her feelings
known in magazine, newsletters, over the radio, and newspaper
articles. She started writing a newspaper column titled My Day
that discussed issues such as race, women, and key events
such as Pearl Harbor, Prohibition, or H Bomb. This column
allowed Mrs. Roosevelt to spread her ideas and thoughts to millions
of Americans and give them a new view on the issues they faced
every day. At the end of the Great Depression Eleanor pushed
for higher wages for domestic workers, compensation for married
women, and stressed the development of day care centers
for working mothers.

Making Alliances
Eleanor Roosevelt also made huge efforts to keep up with the lives of foreign wives of Allied leaders. She did this to assure friendship of the United States. She made fast alliances with Winston
Churchill's wife and built bonds with many
foreign neighbors of the U.S. These sneaky actions where a huge help to FDR.
